On Jealousy

Jealousy is a green-eyed monster.

We all have experienced those moments of jealousy- whether they were fleeting or persistent. Jealousy is truly a monster- but it is only out to get one person- You.

Jealousy can have different effects in different situations. It can make a person do unimaginable things, keep you tossing and turning all night, make one despise their loved ones or on milder levels- cause a temporary moment of annoyance and irritation. Whatever it maybe, jealousy never brings you any benefits.

So, what should we make of it? Well, I think we obviously cannot let go of the emotion. It comes naturally and strikes anytime. However, I think we can control how we react to it. Firstly, it’s best to immediately think of something good of the situation or the person you were just feeling jealous of. Your friend got a new car? Jealous? Think of all the sweet rides you’ll get! That ought to kick jealousy in the butt.

Secondly, to go on a deeper level, we can analyze why we were feeling jealous. Mostly its because we are insecure about our own selves. When you do this, you ensure that jealousy is permanently kept at bay for that particular situation.
